University Malaysia Pahang (UMP) was established by the Government of Malaysia on February 16, 2002. UMP is relatively a new university and it has been categorized as a focused university, among 19 other public universities in Malaysia.UMP was set up as a competency -based technical university which specializes in the fields of engineering and technology. As for research, UMP focuses on applied research and industrial projects to enrich the teaching and learning processes as well as to promote the commercialization of research products. Students in UMP enjoy the use of state-of-the-art facilities that resemble those used in industries. Known for its “Teaching Factory” concept, our students are taught by experienced faculties in a learning environment that prepares them for the real-world.

UMP is first local public university offering a variety of accredited engineering and technical education programmes with collaborative partnerships with industries especially in the East Coast Industrial Belt, Dual Degree Bachelor programmes in engineering in collaboration with Germany, Ireland & Australia and better job prospect with 79% of UMP graduates managed to secure a job six months after graduation (2012).

UMP is Ranked# 134 in the (QS) Asia University Rankings 2020, Ranked# 101-150 in the (QS) World University Rankings 2020 and 5-Star (Excellent) for the “Emerging University” (SETARA’17)
